has issued a scouting party to survey the ruins of Mistmarsh Outpost- an
ancient ruin in the dangerous wastelands near the Aelven city of Thanor. He
believes that the location of an artefact of extreme power can be found
inscribed on the walls of the temple…
Something stirred in the rolling mists.
Reaver scouts flanked the Numinous Occulum on restless horses as two
units of Seaguard secured a defensive line, nervously awaiting whatever lay in
the shadows. Cast in a shimmering glow of light, Archmage Turic began the
incantation to unlock the secrets of the Occulum knowing that the energies within would
be dangerous and hostile. Without the secrets of the Duardin however, the
artefact would never be found.
Scratching through the dirt, Death moved forward…

slowly.
Seizing the initiative, the Aelven mage successfully shielded his force
again and turned the wheel – Beneath his feet he sensed a malevolent energy
stir. More arrows flew into the advancing lines of undead shattering their
advance but Turic knew they would keep coming until the secrets of the Duardin
were theirs. Outside the Occulum, Turic heard the cries of another Reaver. He
must hurry…

Fortune favoured the Aelves again as the forces of Death, led by a
Wight King failed to make progress towards the outpost. Turic heard felt the
wheel click and a sudden thrum of energy surged and pulsed from the Occulum -it’s
maliciousness slaying warriors across the marshland with its fiery touch. Surprised
and in fear of what was to come, the Aelven attacks faltered. New waves of
Deathly cavalry galloped into the battle. The Necromancer, fuelled by the
hatred within the air infused his shambling skeletal forces and willed them into
the Aelven ranks. Seaguard shields splintered and their spears snapped in two
as the horde smashed into their defensive lines. Grave Guard with rictus grins
and glowing eyes slashed and scythed into the spearmen with only the sure
footedness of the Swordmasters protecting them from further casualties.

themselves against the returning attacks.
Right flank sword masters kill Grave Guard unit.
Loremaster kills one skeleton
Remaining seaguard kill one skeleton.
Aelves turn the
mechanism to 30! With General ability (31 and it’s game over)
Duardin energy spills across the battlefield killing 3
skeletons, 6 zombies, 1 Black Knight, 1 Reaver, 4 seaguard and 4 swordmasters.
Reavers fire into Black Knights, killing one and wounding
another.

5 skeletons, 2 zombies flee in battle shock…
The tide of battle was turning. The Necromancer summoned the dead to
rise from the earth- ancient skeletal warriors with clacking jaws and grinding
bones pulled themselves from the dampen earth. Fresh corpses groaned and
shambled mindlessly towards the Occulum. Aelven broadswords sent limbs
scattering. Galaeron inspired his troops
by severing a charging Hex Wraith in two but they were losing too many units. Across the right flank the Grave Guard killed
the last line of Aelven Seaguard whilst fearless Swordmasters engaged the Wight
King in a brutal whirl of slashes and parries. A flanking Reaver unit, decimated
by the pulse of energy from the Occulum made one last charge towards the
Necromancer- the lone Aelf, his quiver spent, swung his sword in vain as a wall
of zombie corpses prevented his advance.
Turn 5…?
Aelves win the roll and turn the mechanism to complete the
mission. (36)
With the battle looking lost and more skeletal fiends rising from the
earth Turic knew he had to move fast- ignoring the pain that wracked his body
and mind he turned the wheel one last time. With a thunderous crack the stone
floor of the Occulum opened on ancient grinding gears. From across the
battlefield the Wight King wailed in frustration. The swordmasters, with a flurry
of blows bought the King to his knees, binding him in rope as he thrashed and
spat curses from his cracked skeletal jaws. The Necromancer, seeing that they
were too late to stop the Aelves evaporated into the shadows- the remaining
undead collapsing into the marshland and sinking into the putrid earth as their
puppet master fled.
As the remaining Aelf forces secured the battle field the mage and
Galaeron climbed into the darkness of the Outpost to discover its secrets. The
markings Turic discovered there on brass plaques revealed only part of a map- not
made by Duardin hand but by those of Azgorh- Chaos Duardin who occupied this
temple. The Wight King let out a cold lifeless cackle. Perhaps he knew more…
